He likes me i like him, he doesnt want to date b/c its the same reason why his last relationship ended. =[ hel?

he drives, i dont but could take the train to see him, we live 40 minutes apart. he says that he really likes me i really like him, but he doesnt want to have a long distance relationship because that is the reason why his last relationship ended. i've never liked a guy so much. he still calls me cutie, babe, baby etc. its making me really confused because he says he wants to date me, but doesnt think it would work because of the distance. him calling me those things makes it even harder for me to try to forget about him. i really want to at least try to date him. just because it didnt work for him last time doesnt nessasarily mean it wont work for us. help? please. =[
