Im looking at going to america this summer preferably the west coast maybve start in san francisco?

was wondering if anyone could tell me would it be worth starting further up was looking at driving down from san fran to san diego and stop off at a few places on the way could anyone reccomend a few places to stop off at.. thanks a million
