Have people become more superficial online?

Yes people have i'm a high school student that is pretty much in the facebook era but one of the things that i have noticed is that facebook cant really be used as a tool to share ideas and expand on a certain topic that is open for discussion realizing this i recently opened my own blog gamersescape.blo.com and im hoping i could use it as a tool to heighten my own eexperiences
