Guys can you please help?

Hey...I just wanted to know what guys tought. I'm a quiet girl and not very talkative. When my friends and I are out in public ppl always notice them and want to talk to them because they are much prettier. I mean from a 1 to 10 scale 1 being the lowest I think that i might be a 7 or an eight. It's hard for me to make new friends becasue i'm really shy around other people. My friends always tell me that i'm smart and a very nice person then why can't i ever find someone who likes me? I dress in jeans and t-shirts...what i am trying to say is that i don't dress like a slutt. I'm not looking for a boyfriend or anything becasue i rather focus on school and getting good grades. I just want to know what guys might think of me...do they all just want to be firends? sometimes i just think that i'm not their type and that maybe i'm a great friend just not Gf material. Oh and maybe you can just give me pointers on how to talk to people. Thanks for the help.
